I was surfing the web today, and came across this lovely company. Bella Figura, out of Syracuse, NY, offers custom designed and letterpressed wedding invites, rsvp’s and save the dates. Their unique style of letterpressing on rediculously thick paper stock with their custom in-house designed graphics, make these cards a must have. We think it’s just the coolest thing. For those of you who don’t know what letterpressing is, it’s a printing technique that goes back as far as Johannes Gutenburg in 1440. It uses a plate made out of metal that has the hard edge graphic (in other words, no pixel based pictures) mounted on a block of wood usually, and then inked up and stamped down on the paper stock. Think of a rubber stamp, but way cooler. The beauty of it is the indentions that it leaves in the paper. The best paper stocks to use are thick card stocks, since there is enough paper to make an indention. Along with the wedding invites, etc., they also offer baby announcements as well.
